The Urban River Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote the value of education, for at-risk high school age youth, through the art of fly fishing.
We are an out-of-school time program that is focused on youth development. Fly fishing is the primary vehicle of our program, along with any other associated fly fishing topics. The impact of the program may simply evolve within the intrinsic value of catching a fish on a fly rod and/or the journey in trying to do so. Our objective is for the participants in our program to learn how to fly fish and understand the role that education plays in their lives. We provide a positive social environment that creates opportunities of discovery, growth, new perspectives, and hopefully high school diplomas.
